What’s in my camera bag for weddings?

Now, most couples aren’t particularly interested in camera gear. All that matters is that their wedding photos look beautiful.

But if you are interested about what gear I use to capture a wedding - or perhaps you’re an aspiring wedding photographer wondering what equipment you might need - this little tour through my camera bag(s) will hopefully answer any questions you might have.

Please email me with any additional questions or enquiries. Alternatively, feel free to leave a comment at the bottom of this page.

Fujifilm X-T3 (*2)

Fujfilm XT3 - Wedding Photography

I absolutely love using these cameras for events and personal work. Fujifilm make incredible APS-C cameras and the X-T3 is undoubtedly one of their most impressive creations.

The fact that these cameras are so lightweight makes carrying them around at a wedding no problem at all. Many photographers have made the switch from much heavier DSLR cameras to mirrorless in recent years and haven’t looked back.

I use two of these exceptional cameras at weddings, each equipped with one of the Fujifilm lenses that I’ll discuss next…

Fujifilm XF56mm f/1.2, Fujifilm XF16mm f/1.4 lenses

Fujfilm Lenses, 16mm and 56mm

Undoubtedly two of Fujifilm’s best lenses, the 56mm f/1.2 produces beautiful bokeh, works fantastically well in low-light settings and allows me to capture incredible portraits of couples.

The 16mm f/1.4 is a versatile wide-angle lens that’s perfect for environmental portraits, group shots, detail shots and so much more.

Fujifilm X100V

Fujfilm X100V - Wedding Photography

Yep, I even carry a third camera on me at weddings and it’s one that quickly became one of my favourite cameras of all time.

Released in 2020, Fujifilm’s X100V is an absolute dream to use whether I’m at a wedding, an engagement shoot, photographing my family, travelling… you name it, it’s perfect!

Unlike the X-T3s, the X100V is a fixed-lens camera, which means you can’t change the 23mm f/2 lens on the front. But, as the owner of 56mm and 16mm lenses, this particular focal length is ideal for me.

Your wedding journey starts here

I still have dates available for 2024 and 2025 weddings. It’s not too late!

Tick one thing off the list by getting your wedding photographer booked.

Peak Design backpack

Peak Design Bag - Wedding Photography

These Peak Design camera backpacks aren’t cheap but it’s essential that I have a quality bag to safely transport my equipment and this one does the job superbly.

There are so many little compartments on this ultra durable and waterproof backpack - perfect for photographers!

Peak Design Sling bag

Peak Design Sling Bag - Wedding Photography

Sometimes I’ll just have Peak Design’s Sling bag on me at weddings. These quality smaller bags allow me to safely store one of my cameras if I need to, a back-up lens perhaps, plus spare batteries and memory cards. Basically, all the things that I need quick access to on a wedding day.

I went for the eye-catching Midnight Blue and love the design.

Peak Design straps

You probably noticed the curious little red and black things on either side of my X-T3 and X100V cameras. These clip into my Peak Design straps. The longer one is used over the neck, while the other is a wrist strap.

However, you’re unlikely to see me wearing either of these straps at a wedding. Instead, I’ll probably be using the following item on my list two carry my two X-T3s.

Peak Design Pro Pad

Yet another Peak Design product! This nifty little Pro Pad fits around my belt and gives me easy access to my X100V.

BlackRapid harness

Camera holster - Wedding Photography

After several weeks researching various harnesses and holsters, I eventually purchased this lightweight BlackRapid harness before shooting my first wedding. It’s comfortable and easy to use, which is all you can ask for!

When stood on your feet for most of the day carrying multiple cameras, it’s extremely important to be as comfortable as possible. And it’s definitely a case of so far so good with the BlackRapid harness.

Spare batteries

Fujfilm Batteries - Wedding Photography

It’s absolutely essential as a wedding photographer to carry a handful of spare batteries. I triple check that all my batteries are fully charged and ready to go the night before a shoot. Furthermore, I’ll also bring the battery charger with me to the wedding venue to recharge any used batteries while I continue working.

SanDisk memory cards

Sandisk memory cards - Wedding Photography

On a similar note, you can never have too many spare memory cards in your camera bag! The last thing you want as a photographer is to miss any moment because you’re out of storage on a card.

VOOE Power Bank

Power Pack - Wedding Photography

I’ll stick this in my Peak Design Sling bag so that my used batteries can re-charge as I’m shooting. It was around £25 on Amazon when I purchased it in 2021. Not bad considering it can also charge other devices like mobile phones and tablets.

Cleaning tools

Lens cleaners - Wedding Photography

It’s essential that my lenses are clean at all times and these little cleaning tools allow me to keep everything pristine as I work.

Lume Cube LED light

Modern cameras are so good that you can shoot a full wedding without using flash, even at night. However, this handy LED light, named a ‘Lume Cube’, is excellent for when I require a little more light in certain scenarios.

M1 MacBook Air laptop

Apple M1 Macbook Air - Wedding Photography

It’s unlikely that I’ll ever bring my laptop to the wedding itself but I’ll edit the photos afterwards using Apple’s brilliant M1 MacBook Air and iMac.

SanDisk SSD

SSD drive and SD card reader - Wedding Photography

All photos are stored and backed up using SanDisk’s lightning quick Extreme 1TB Portable NVMe SSD. Also in the photo is the SD card reader that slots into the MacBook Air and iMac.

You’ll see that I carefully look after all of my equipment and ensure that everything is in top condition before a shoot.

All of the listed items are used to create the best possible photos for my clients.

If you’d like me to photograph your wedding, please get in touch. I look forward to hearing from you!
