Whitstable: Best location in Kent for beautiful sunsets?
There are some excellent locations in Kent for those of us who love a beautiful sunset, but does Whitstable belong right at the very top?
I recently saw this article on Kent Online claiming that Whitstable was becoming a ‘holiday hotspot for celebrities’, with Breaking Bad star Aaron Paul among the surprise visitors to the small seaside town this year.
And while the town has plenty more to offer than sunsets alone, the fact visitors are often treated to stunning sunsets is certainly one of its major appeals - especially for those of us who love taking photos.
As someone who lives around 30 minutes away from Whitstable, I like to get down there a few times every year.

This past weekend, on an unusually mild Saturday afternoon in November, I took a trip there with my family.
After having some lunch in a nearby restaurant, we walked to the beach at around 3:15pm - which (and you’ll need no reminding of this if you live in England!) is around the time the sun starts to set in November.
We stayed for the next 45 minutes or so, watching the sun go down over the horizon while enjoying the gorgeous colours in the sky as day slowly turned to night.

As we walked back to the car I said to my wife, Anya, that I’ve seen a stunning sunset every time I’ve visited Whitstable seafront. Or at least it feels that way.
Perhaps I’m just one of the lucky ones - or maybe Whitstable really is that special at the end of most days.
It reminded me that we really are fortunate with some of the coastal resorts we have on our doorstep here in Kent. And it makes sense that people from far and wide, including high-profile stars, would travel thousands of miles to experience some of the county’s highlights.
