In late September, I had the privilege of capturing Emma and Alex’s beautiful wedding at Knights Hill Hotel in King’s Lynn. Every wedding is an incredibly special occasion but this was unquestionably one of my favourite weddings that I’ve ever attended - either as the photographer or as a guest!
I knew it was going to be a memorable one when a message came through during bridal prep stating that Alex had forgotten his trousers. Nevertheless, the man himself couldn’t have been more cool, calm and collected about the situation. Fortunately Alex’s missing trousers did eventually arrive after one of his friends saved the day by driving to his house and getting them on his behalf.
Back to bridal prep and there was a relaxed atmosphere inside the room throughout the morning. It can be a stressful time of day for brides (probably even more so when your husband-to-be forgets a key item of clothing) but Emma and her bridal party were in great spirits and they helped me to create some lovely shots. There was a particularly touching moment when Emma’s dad and brother saw her in her dress for the first time. Hopefully I did the moment justice with the photos.

Knights Hill Hotel Groom Prep Photography
I don’t always get the opportunity to photograph groom prep but I did on this occasion because Alex and Emma both got ready at the hotel. The vibe in the room with Alex and his pals was similar to the girls’ and we got some fun photos of the lads all together outside prior to the ceremony. As a photographer, the opportunity to capture groom prep is always a bonus. It's definitely one of the perks of the couple getting ready at the same venue!
Knights Hill Hotel Ceremony and Celebrations Photography
A short-but-sweet wedding ceremony was followed by the newly-married couple celebrating the moment with their friends and family in the hotel’s grounds. As you’ll see from the next set of photos, Emma and Alex couldn’t have got any luckier with the weather conditions. It was a perfect September afternoon.
Knights Hill Hotel Group and Portraits Photography
Ahead of the wedding breakfast, we reserved a little bit of time for some portraits after the group shots. It’s my responsibility to make the couple feel as relaxed as possible during these moments and Emma and Alex responded brilliantly. They really were a dream couple to work with. I’d also reserved some time later in the day for golden hour portraits (providing the weather continued to be on our side) but I believe it’s always best to have some earlier portraits in the bag - just in case. As we all know, you can never entirely trust British weather!
Knights Hill Hotel Wedding Speeches
After a lovely meal, it was time for the speeches. Emma’s dad, Alex’s brother and his best man all aced theirs - as did the groom himself, delivering a fantastic speech which was humorous and heartfelt in equal measure without referring to any notes. I honestly don’t think I could have done the same, so I take my hat off to you, Alex!
Knights Hill Hotel Golden Hour Portraits Photography
Fortunately, the weather continued to play ball, which allowed us to create some beautiful golden hour portraits. Once again, Emma and Alex made it look easy. We had our fingers crossed for a beautiful sunset and we weren’t let down by the early evening conditions in Kings Lynn.
Knights Hill Hotel First Dance and Party Time!
With all of the formalities now out of the way, it was time for Emma and Alex to party with their all their friends and family - once they’d cut the cake and had their first dance, of course. When I left Knights Hill Hotel, after an epic party, I walked back to my car with a big smile on my face. I immediately knew this was another wedding that I’ll always remember with a great deal of fondness.
